Australian Highlands Wine Show

1. REGULATIONS

  • All classes are open to wines made by Australian wine producers with a minimum of 85% of the entered wine originating from a vineyard that has some, or all, of the vineyard at or more than 500 metres above sea level.
  • A wine producer means any person owning or leasing a vineyard, and/or manufacturing wine, or from grapes purchased for the purpose of winemaking.
  • All exhibits must conform to the respective Acts of the States and Commonwealth of Australia which govern the production and sale of Australian Wine and Brandy, including but not limited to; the Customs and Excise Act, Health Act, Spirit Act, the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation Export Regulations Amendments 1993, the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation Amendments Act 1993 and the regulations relevant to such Acts.
  • All exhibits must be made wholly in Australia utilising only Australian grapes.
  • Stewards & judges reserve the right to reallocate wines to correct classes if entered into an incorrect or inappropriate class.
  • The Australian Highlands Wine Show Exhibitor Tasting is a “restricted industry function” and therefore attendance is limited to bona-fide company personnel associated with the entry. All exhibitors will be entitled to two (2) free tickets. Limited extra tickets, based upon entries submitted, will only be issued upon a direct request to the wine show committee
  • All exhibits will become the property of the Australian Highlands Wine Show.
  • The Australian Highlands Wine Show reserves the right to accept or reject any entry, to question exhibitors on details of entries and to change entries to a more appropriate class.
  • In all cases, the wine in stock, as declared on the entry form, may be inspected and checked by representatives or nominees of the association to verify origin and quantity held.
  • The wine show committee may also purchase at random samples from licensed retail outlets for comparison with exhibits submitted for judging.
  • The Chairman of Judges will have the final arbitration power.
  • No protest will be considered unless made within 7 days of the announcements of the awards. However, it must be noted that the decision of the judges is final and no discussion will be entered into, but the reason for the decision will be given.
  • Any exhibitor breaking any regulation may be disqualified from this and any future Australian Highlands Wine Show.
  • No entry will be received from any exhibitor disqualified by this or any other similar wine show during the period of such disqualification. Should an entry be accepted, it will, when discovered, be deemed void and the entry fee and the exhibit will be forfeited.
  • All entrants agree to supply, on request by the Australian Highlands Wine Show, up to 60 bottles at no greater than $10.00 per bottle (inc taxes and freight), of any wine entered for promotional and awards event purposes.

2. EXHIBIT REQUIREMENTS

  • All entries must be made on the form supplied. Submissions will only be accepted for wines with a minimum of 85% of the entered wine originating from a vineyard that has some, or all, of the vineyard at or more than 500 metres above sea level.
  • All information requested must be supplied. Signed entry forms must be accompanied by full payment of all entry fees.
  • Entry fees are $ 30.00 per entry.

  • A wine must only be entered once, irrespective of the number of trade labels under which it is released.
  • In all single varietal classes, not less than 85% of the wine must be of the specified variety.
  • Exhibitors may submit unlimited entries per class.
  • Exhibits of wines subject to multiple bottling runs must be in all respects, the same wine that is entered or available for retail sale under the specified entry label name.
  • All exhibits must be finished and bottled wine (no barrel samples accepted).
  • For each entry, FOUR (4) 750ml bottles, or equivalents are required.
  • Each entry must hold a minimum of 400lt in stock at the time of entry.
  • Exhibits on which freight has not been paid will be excluded from judging
  • No wine show labels will be issued; all entries must be labelled with commercial labels or otherwise clearly identifiable with a commercial name and vintage of the wine.
  • All exhibits will be made available for tasting at the Exhibitor Tasting.
  • Exhibits will be judged and given a score out of a total of 20 points and medals awarded as follows; Gold (18.5 to 20.0 points), Silver (17.0 to 18.4 points) and Bronze (15.5 to 16.9 points).
  • Entries awarded a gold medal in its class are the ONLY wines eligible for trophies. Where no wines are awarded a gold medal no trophies will be awarded and the highest scoring and judged wine will be issued a “Best in Class Certificate”.

3. CLASSES

Finished & bottled wines only

  • A minimum quantity of 400 litres (44 dozen 750ml bottles) of each entry is to be in stock at the time of entry.
  • Exhibits will be judged and given an average score out of a total of 20 points and medals awarded as follows; Gold (18.5 to 20.0 points), Silver (17.0 to 18.4 points) and Bronze (15.5 to 16.9 points)
  • Classes:
